FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 21, 2006 Squadron Works with Local VFW at Vietnam Memorial ![]() Over the past week "The Moving Wall," a half-size replica of the Vietnam War Memorial, has been on display at Freedom Park in Medford. This moving memorial serves as a reminder to the nation of the almost 60,000 lives lost during the Vietnam conflict. Every night that the wall was in operation at Freedom Park, a memorial ceremony for the soldiers and their families was held. On Thursday night, June 15, 2006, the Air Victory Museum Composite Squadron was honored by being invited to participate in the ceremony. The Color Guard, consisting of Cadets Capiak, Gormley, Oyola, Piotrowski, Russ and Wright, presented and retrieved the colors, while the remainder of the squadron observed the ceremonies from the stage. The following weekend members of the squadron camped at the site and helped the hosting VFW by working the concession stand, assisting families in finding names on the wall and helping direct traffic. A schedule of where the Moving Wall will be displayed next and a virtual memorial to those lost in the Vietnam War is located at http://www.themovingwall.org/ Written by:
